Bunnahabhain

Some background:

Pronounced "bunn-a-hav-an" the name means "mouth of the river", for the distillery is squashed between the sea and the foot of a steep cliff where the river Maradale tumbles into the narrow fast flowing Sound of jura on the desolate north east coast of Islay. Like its name, the whisky is quite a mouthful, yet understated for an Islay malt. It is ideal for new converts to this no-holds-barred appellation...

Tasting Note: 'Toffee and roasted nuts. Antique gold colour and medium-bodied. A very mature version of Bunnahabhain, with greater depth than younger bottlings. It is the Islay whisky without the Islay character, and it is a lovely dram in its own right. Fresh aroma of toffee and roasted nuts. Suprisingly rich in flavour, again displaying toffe, nuts, suggestions of cherry fruit and a dry finish' (Malt Advocate)
