Some background:

Pronounced "cull-eela", this distillery is hidden in a tint steep-sided bay on the narrow Sound of Islay from where it gets its name. Close by is Loch Finlaggan from where the Lords of the Isles ruled the western seaboard of Scotland for centuries. The distillery overlooks the mysterious Paps of Jura, whose spectacular peaks are said to resemble breasts. This rare and outstanding malt is likewise quite and enjoyable handful.

Tasting Note: Pale straw in appearance this sleeper from Islay displays the power and complexity one looks for in a peated Islay whisky. On the nose it is malty with a generous helping of peat. The taste is oily and rich, sweet and pungent. The flavours fill the mouth and leave a long complex smoky and salty finish.
