Tasting Note

 Colour: Winter sun.
Body: Don’t let the colour fool you - it is really massive.  At 35 years old, I would have expected the alcohol level to be much lower.  I think this spirit was stored close to the roof of the warehouse, hence the high strength.
Nose/Palate: Very fresh and floral.  It requires some water to allow it to open and reveal its more subtle aromas.  Intriguing and inviting with sweet green grapes, guava and calvados apples, together with yellow flowers, honey and light oak.  A sweet barley sugar note sails above throughout.

Unbelievably fruity with nuances of Madeira cake and sweet lemon barley - but it is the fruit salad soaked in malt whisky  coming through in mellow waves that is really delicious.  Just a trace of oak gives a suggestion of ale.  It is deceptive and concentrated.

Finish:

Thought-provoking, warm and friendly, no heat – more heart. Moderately long. A graceful sophisticated Speyside.
