Mission Range

Name: Lagavulin
Distilled: 1979
Cask type: First Fill American Oak

Tasting Note

 Colour: Light gold/warm honey.
Body: Full, strong and sensuous.  It’s seriously Islay – in its absolute prime.
Nose/Palate: You are plunged into the wild Atlantic, swim ashore, wade through the seaweed onto the peat moor, walk for miles in the driving rain, arrive at a croft with a pear fire burning where you are offered a bowl of hot porridge, topped with syrup and wild berries, followed by a generous dram of this magnificent spirit.  An out-of-body experience.
Finish:

Distinctive, incredibly complex.  The quality of both the spirit and the oak is outstanding.  This takes Malt Whisky to a higher lever.  A tribute to both Cooper and Distiller.  Exquisite quality and the best I have tasted in a decade.
