Mission Range

Name: Royal Brackla
Distilled: 1975
Cask type: Refill Sherry Oak

Tasting Note

 Colour:

Brilliant burnt orange/Spanish sunsets.

Body:

Full, round and well endowed.

Nose/Palate:

Opens with steamed strawberries and black pepper, then it’s a rush of red fruits followed by creamy mint chocolate, tangerine, apricot and cream soda.  It’s a firecracker – aromas explode as the spirit warms.  You can almost see the saws in the cooperage slicing the staves, as the aroma of the Spanish oak with its rich dark nutty sherry and dark toffee flavours burst onto the palate. The aromas now change to orange blossom and Turkish delight.  It is utterly stunning.

Finish:

An elegant and delicious malt with a satin smooth textured finish.  A stately thoroughbred spirit that justifies its royal title.

After 39 years of tasting drams I thought I had experienced the very best, but this one changed all that.  A monumental malt.
