Some background:

This is where the Thane of Cawdor (yes he really does exist - he recently married) of Shakespeare's Macbeth fame lives. East of Inverness, this is technically a Speyside whisky, but its proximity to the coast gives it more interest, so we include it in our Coastal category. OK, not as briny/seaside influenced as say Springbank, Lochside or Highland Park, but none the less it has extra complexity, depth and weight that make it stand out from the majority of this appellation - especially since it is not chill-filtered. An unsung beautifully balanced dram that merits much more attention.

Tasting Note: Deep golden in colour, this example of Royal Brackla exudes charm and class. A rich sweet and fruity flavour with a hint of smoke giving it backbone. A smooth clean finish with gentle peat and smoke in perfect harmony. A very classy dram.
